The DuraShift EST (Electronic Shift Transmission) gearbox is a solution that combines the features of a classic manual gearbox with the comfort of an automatic transmission. This semi-automatic system is installed in popular models such as Ford Focus, Fiesta, Fusion, Transit and Mazda 2.
As in the case of the Oplowski Easytronic, here an advanced electronic-hydraulic controller is also responsible for changing gears and operating the clutch. Although this system works well in city traffic, it wears out over the years, generating serious problems with the use of the vehicle.
Symptoms of DuraShift driver failure — P0810
errorThe most stressful symptom for a driver is the moment when the car stops working. DuraShift controller failure most often manifests itself in the inability to start the engine (the starter does not respond), the transmission locking in one gear or a message about a drive system failure being displayed on the dashboard.
After connecting a diagnostic computer, this failure is almost always marked with error code P0810 (Clutch Position Control Error).
What does error P0810 mean and how to fix it?
Error P0810 indicates that the controller has lost control of the clutch position. The system does not "see" what position the slave cylinder is in, so for safety reasons it blocks the possibility of driving and starting the engine.
The cause may be damage to the actuator, wear of the brushes in the servo motor or failure of the controller electronics. Replacing the module with a used one is quite risky and involves a rather complicated controller programming process, while new modules are no longer available in services.
